We remain committed to providing a Building Control service to our customers during this challenging time, please continue to book inspections by phone or emails, you will be advised if the inspection can be undertaken.
The main function of Building Control is to ensure that new building work meets the requirements of the Building Regulations. These Regulations cover matters such as structural stability, fire safety, conservation of fuel and power and access and facilities for disabled persons. This is achieved by checking and approving plans of proposed works, and then carrying out inspections of the work on site as it proceeds. We are also able to offer general advice on building matters.
Building Control deal with both residential and commercial projects, and can be involved in works ranging from replacement windows right up to a major housing / office development. It should be noted that the function of Building Control is different to that of the Planning Department. In some instances you may require Building Regulation approval where Planning Permission is not required. It is therefore important to make your enquiries well in advance of any project starting, however minor the work.
