Environmental Health - Food Safety & Standards

Food safety and standards

Environmental Health are responsible for ensuring that food manufactured, sold and consumed on the Isle of Wight is safe to eat and of the quality demanded.

The Environmental Health Service offers support and advice to businesses to help them comply with food safety legislation and sell food and drink that is safe and fit to eat. All premises inspected will received a rating under the National Food Hygiene Rating scheme to demonstrate compliance in food hygiene. The scores range from 0 (meaning ‘urgent improvement necessary’) and 5 (meaning ‘very good’).

This service is part of our development to improve our website and can now be found on our new beta website.
