Early Years SEN Advisory Team

EYSEN Support Service for Childcare Settings

Childcare settings receive support from our Advisors. Their role is to work with the childcare setting to ensure all children are included.

Our Advisors will allow Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCo) and staff working in childcare settings to develop an inclusive early learning environment. This environment will help them to support children.  The support is provided  through termly planning meetings. This will be with the SENCo and a training package will be available to early years settings.

EYSEN Funding

There is funding available to provide extra adult support within the childcare setting.

The funding flowchart explains the process for applying for funding.

To apply, download and complete the funding application form.

Disability Access Funding (DAF)

The Department of Education provides specific information on  Disability Access Funding (DAF).

Three and four year olds will be eligible for the DAF if they meet the following criteria:

  • the child is in receipt of child disability living allowance
  • the child receives free early education

Please note that four-year olds in primary school reception classes are not eligible for DAF funding.

Children become eligible for free early education at different points in the year depending on when they turn three. You can view more information on free childcare on the government website.

Inclusion support grant

This funding is available to help support inclusive practice within childcare settings. It helps children and young people aged 3-19 years with additional needs to access out of school and holiday provision. To apply, download and complete the application form.

We must ensure that this limited funding is used to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children.  Therefore only children who meet the eligibility criteria are funded.
