How to book a cremation

Who books the cremation?

Your funeral director makes the booking.

They will complete the legal documentation.

Your funeral director can also help with

  • music
  • flowers
  • service sheets
  • notices in newspapers

If you decide to make the funeral arrangements without the use of a funeral director you can contact our office for help and advice by email bereavement.services@iow.gov.uk

We offer single and double service slots giving you 20 or 40 minutes in the Chapel.

Are you a funeral director?

Use the Isle of Wight crematorium booking system if you are a funeral director.

The service

Visual tributes

Visual tributes add a personal touch to your service and we offer a large screen to display tributes in the chapel. For an additional charge you can choose a single photo or a slideshow. Contact your funeral director or celebrant who can book this service with us.

Music

Our chapel is equipped with an organ and we can arrange for an organist. We can play pre-recorded music supplied on a USB. Please book music through your funeral director or celebrant. For large services we have outside speakers available.

Live streaming

Live web streaming is available to allow friends and family who are unable to attend to view the service online or download to watch later. You can book this service through your funeral director.

For more information please email bereavement.services@iow.gov.uk

After the cremation service

After a service mourners will be guided out of the chapel to the undercover area. Here mourners can pay their condolences to the close relatives of the deceased.

Floral tributes will be placed in the covered cloister areas outside the chapel. These can be viewed after your service. You may remove the flowers after the service. If not removed they will be displayed for a week in our tribute area. After that time they will be disposed of.

All mourners are welcome to visit our Gardens of Remembrance for contemplation and reflection.

Cremated remains (ashes)

There are different options available for the cremated remains of your loved one.

  1. You can choose a scattering in our beautiful garden of remembrance or selected parts of the woodland. If there is a specific area of the gardens you would like the ashes scattered in, we will do our best to help.
  2. You can choose to have the ashes placed in our columbaria or interred in Birch Meadow.
  3. You can collect the ashes for scattering or interment in a cemetery or location of your choice. You can contact us by email for more information at bereavement.services@iow.gov.uk
  4. Following a scattering you may wish to buy an authorised memorial in the grounds to remember your loved one.
