Memorial Plaques located on decorative wooden plinths overlooking the brook that winds through the crematorium grounds - a beautiful natural spot in our ancient natural woodland.

Babies and Children’s Garden of Remembrance

Our Babies and Children’s Garden of Remembrance is located in a quiet area of the grounds and consists of:

  • a ‘Born to Soon’ interment section.
  • an area to scatter cremated remains of babies and children – this is split into four areas for children born in Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter.
  • a summerhouse for parents and siblings to visit and leave mementos for their baby and to sit in quiet reflection.

Please be aware that any new memorial will need to be authorised before it can be placed in the gardens of remembrance. In failing to do so, we hold the right to remove any items which are unauthorised.

Important information about the The Woodland Walk

The Woodland Walk within the crematorium is a natural ancient woodland and as such has natural hazards which include a fast-flowing brook, exposed tree roots, uneven surfaces, sheer bank edges and slippery leaves and bridges after wet weather.

To preserve this ancient beauty we keep intervention to a minimum and we remind you that you enter at your own risk and that you must:

  • keep to the designated pathways
  • Keep away from the edges as banks can have sheer drops or be undercut
  • obey any signage and warnings if the area has been closed off
  • only enter by the designated routes
  • always supervise children

If the Woodland Walk has been closed do not enter because it has been assessed as unsafe or there are National Weather Warnings in place. The Woodland Walk will always close in high winds or in periods of flood. The Isle of Wight Council accepts no liability for accident or injury in this area.

Please ask at the office for further information or call 01983 882288 or 01983 823310.
