Birth family support
We offer post-adoption support to birth parents and relatives of children who have been adopted.
Regardless of whether birth parents and relatives supported or opposed the adoption plan, we recognise that some birth parents will have been significantly affected by their child's adoption.
We respect that some birth parents or relatives may need time and space to talk through their adoption-related experiences, while others prefer to focus on specific issues such as letterbox contact. Some people like to come to just one or two sessions, while others need more time to explore what the loss of their child means to them.
Some birth parents or relatives need to have post-adoption support soon after the child or children are adopted; others prefer to wait a while. Some may wait many years. There is no time limit on accessing our support. We do not charge for this service.
We always aim to provide a sensitive, respectful and understanding service irrespective of the kind of support you need. In the unlikely event that we are unable to meet your specific post-adoption support needs, we will always do our best to signpost you to an organisation that may be able to help.
