Specialist Teacher Advisory (STA) Team

Empowering children and young people

The STA team uses the word ‘deaf’ to refer to all levels of hearing loss.

STA team is a specialist multi-disciplinary team. We aim to share expertise by working in partnership with families, children or young people and educational staff.

The team includes:

• Qualified Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People
• Specialist Early Years Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People
• Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Communication Support Assistant
• Educational Audiologist

The STA team works closely with NHS colleagues and other professionals to best meet the needs of children and young people. 

We aim to maximise opportunities for learning, independence and inclusion so all deaf and visually impaired children and young people can achieve their potential.

We support children and young people who are deaf, have a vision impairment and additional complex needs. Once we receive a referral we will assess and support your child based on their level of need.
