Annual Canvass
Electoral Register: Annual Canvass of Properties
Each year the Electoral Registration Officer has to contact every property on the Isle of Wight to make sure that the details we hold about electors who are registered are still correct. We will send you one of two types of communication; either an A4 sized letter, or an A3 sized form.
A4 Size Letter
If you receive an A4 sized letter asking “Is the electoral register information correct for this address?” then residents only need to respond if the information is not correct and there are changes to report.
The easiest way to report changes is online, at www.householdresponse.com/iow. You will need the two-part security code shown on your letter. You can also respond by e-mail, telephone or post, and the letter gives full details of how to so this. Please note that return postage is not pre-paid for the A4 size letter, and any posted responses will need a stamp affixed to them.
Every new elector will also need to register in the normal manner.
A3 Size Form
If you receive an A3 sized form saying “You must respond so we can check who is eligible to register to vote” then residents need to respond to this form, regardless of whether or not they have changes to report.
The easiest way to respond is online, at www.householdresponse.com/iow
You will need the two-part security code shown on your form. If there are no changes to report you can also respond by telephone or text message. If you prefer, you can post the form back to us in the envelope provided.
Every new elector will also need to register in the normal manner.
