The Data Protection Act 2018
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European regulation which came into force on 25 May 2018. The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK’s law that implements the EU GDPR.
The Isle of Wight Council processes a large amount of personal data. We are committed to using this information fairly, and keeping the information safe.
If you believe that the council has not acted in accordance with data protection legislation, and/or you believe your rights have been breached, you may complain in writing to our Data Protection Officer.

We will carry out a review into your complaint and provide you with a response within 20 working days.
