Benefit Fraud

Benefit fraud happens when someone lies or hides information on purpose to get benefits they shouldn’t receive.

For example by:

  • not reporting a change in their circumstances
  • giving false information
  • working but not telling us when they apply for benefits
  • saying they live alone but actually living with a partner
  • claiming from an address they don’t live at
  • not telling us about all their income, savings, or property
  • giving false information
