Planning conditions

An approval to a planning application will often include planning conditions, which will

  • control the date when development must start by
  • control parts of the development
  • require works to be done
  • require further information to be submitted and agreed by the Local Planning Authority, within a particular timescale.

The conditions can be found on the decision notice.

Approval (discharge) of condition

The wording of the condition may mean you will need to make an application commonly known as an approval (discharge) of condition.

You will need to send in details as required by the condition within the timescales set out within the condition itself.

Remove or vary a condition

You may not agree with a condition on your planning permission, and you can apply to have it removed or varied. Should you wish to remove or vary any conditions that result in changes to the description of the work permitted, you will need to submit a new full planning application.
