The Mission
Our incredible care teams across the Island have been
working flat out since the start of the pandemic, supporting the most
vulnerable people in our community. These
keyworkers are dedicated, caring and immensely hard working and now they need your help.
Our care sector is facing staff shortages at a time when
they need to be at full strength, no where more so than in Covid Positive settings
(areas where there has been a positive case of coronavirus). These settings are
dealing with depleted workforces, with staff unavailable, isolating or off sick.
Yet still, these amazing teams are determined to ensure individuals continue to
receive the highest standards of care.
To help these dedicated staff get the support they need, to
take much needed breaks and to reduce workloads The PA Noticeboard is creating
a new safety net, the Covid Care-Support Team.
How can you help?
We need 8 individuals with previous care experience to work
on a self-employed basis as Personal Assistants in care. You will be covering
urgent (personal not medical) needs across our community in Covid positive care
environments. Work could be based;
-
Within a community ward at St Marys Hospital
-
In a residential setting like a care home
-
Supporting individuals on a 1-2-1 basis in their
own homes
This will be a vital resource, supporting frontline
keywokers who are facing overwhelming challenges due to staff shortages in
their teams, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. To reinforce our frontline,
we are calling on this Covid Care-Support Team to provide staffing cover
only in Covid Positive settings.
The Covid Care-Support Team
-
You will be a self-employed Personal Assistant
not a council employee (if you have not been self-employed before the process
is simple and we have a team on hand to help)
-
You will be working only in settings where there
has been a positive case of Covid-19.
-
Hourly rate is £15 p/h for weekdays and £16 p/h
for weekends (nightshifts available).
-
There is an additional retainer of £15 per day
to each PA on the Covid Care Support Team.
-
You will have regular weekly testing for
Covid-19 (often with results in 2 hours)
You will provide support, ensuring physical and emotional wellbeing,
this could include personal care including support to dress, wash and bathe or
maybe you’ll be carrying out household tasks like cooking, cleaning and meal
preparation.
Free training will be provided from Medication Awareness and
Medication Administration to Manual Handling, PPE training and more. We will also give you free access to study
