Grade 6, £1,908.74 to £2,025.59 per annum

Hours: 4 per week, term time only (must be available for evening meetings)

We are looking to appoint a highly organised Clerk to the Governors who:

 

-        Is professional, personable and efficient, preferably with experience in school governance.

-        Has excellent administrative and communication skills, with experience of minute taking.

-        Is able to demonstrate exceptional IT skills, (Microsoft Word, Excel and email), and has access to the internet at home

-        Has an flexible approach to working hours

-        Has an excellent understanding of confidentiality and is able to apply this in a working environment

 

Responsibilities will include working effectively with the Head Teacher and Governing Body to secure the continuity of governing body business and to advise on procedural and legislative matters to ensure the Governing Body works to the legal framework. Tasks include; preparation and circulation of papers, attendance at meetings, minute taking and keeping up to date with current educational developments and legislation affecting school governance.

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. The employer will be the Isle of Wight Council and employment is on Isle of Wight terms and conditions. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years.

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
