Permanent Position

Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday - Friday) Term time only plus development days

We are looking to appoint a School Business Manager that can apply their experience and skills to join our successful team. As a part of the Senior Leadership team of the school you will be responsible for the financial, premises, health and safety, HR and payroll, procurement, IT management of the school and have line management responsibility for the administration and premises team.


The successful candidate will have:

Leadership and management experience, in areas including finance, human resources and Health and Safety

Experience of premises and facilities management and procurement

The capacity to work under pressure as well as having a flexible attitude and ability to adapt to change

An understanding of how efficient and effective administration supports the educational priorities of the school

A high level of professional discretion and a high standard of both verbal and written communication

A genuine desire to involve yourself fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals

Have the CSBM or a recognised financial qualification or equivalent experience

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. The employer will be the Isle of Wight Council and employment is on Isle of Wight terms and conditions. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
