We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team based on our primary site.

As a HLTA, you will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities, including the planning, preparation, delivery and assessment/feedback, of lessons to individuals, groups and whole classes.

The successful candidate will:

  •  be passionate about children.
  •  be able to demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge.
  •  have the skills and abilities to support children of all abilities and personal needs;
  •  have the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with staff, parents/carers and pupils

We are seeking a committed individual who is receptive, can adapt and be resilient to different situations, and set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge our pupils.

This role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. The employer will be the Isle of Wight Council and employment is on Isle of Wight terms and conditions. Hampshire County Council has delivered, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will continue to do so until 2023. The original five-year partnership arrangement under direction of the Secretary of State finished in 2018 but has been extended voluntarily by both local authorities for a further five years

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
