We are looking for the next Headteacher of The Island Learning Centre, a ‘Pupil Referral Unit’ for young people aged 11-16. This is a ‘good-rated’ school serving the beautiful Isle of Wight. Our students have a range of vulnerabilities which may include special educational needs, medical needs, or behaviours that mean the young people have been permanently excluded from mainstream school.
This is a unique and challenging opportunity to make a real difference in education across the Isle of Wight. Situated in Newport, the heart of the Island, we have dedicated staff who provide a safe, calm yet stimulating environment for our young people allowing us to support the changes in their lives and nurture their potential.
Our new Headteacher will build on our strong foundations, inspiring staff and forging close relationships with parents and the wider community. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to elevate the centre into a beacon of excellence where the young people enjoy learning and fulfil their potential.
We already have a team of dedicated staff in place working with these wonderful young people and now we need the ideal candidate with vision and passion to take our school into the future.
As well as being a great place to work, we also offer a competitive reward and benefit package, including as standard:
A generous annual leave entitlement of 32 days per annum, plus public holidays
Local Government pension scheme
Local and national staff discounts & benefits schemes
Solent ferry travel discounts via Red Funnel, Wightlink & Hovertravel
Staff parking permit scheme
Discounted island sports & leisure gym membership
We would be delighted to receive your application.
If you would like an informal chat or even a visit to the centre, please contact Paul Chivers, Chair Governors firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please find attached the Headteacher information pack and application form. Address your personal statement in the application on the person specification in the pack. Applications will need to be returned electronically to email@example.com by noon on 23/03/23.
When submitting your application, please use the following format as the email subject heading: School Name – Position – Your Name.
Applications are acknowledged within 2 working days of receipt. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within this time, please contact the recruitment team immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
