Find records from Isle of Wight nonconformist denominations

This page lists registers from Nonconformist groups—churches and chapels that were not part of the Church of England. These records include baptisms, marriages, and burials. You can view them at the Record Office or download catalogues for each denomination.

Please note: some records are missing or do not survive, meaning we don’t have registers from all chapels of all the denominations.

How to view these records

check the Personal Names Index in our Record Office searchroom. It lists names up to the year 1900
Some registers held at the National Archive have been microfilmed, and copies are held at this office. Book a visit if you want to use our microfilm printer to consult the registers or print copies of actual entries
visit the Record Office in Newport to see Methodist and other nonconformist records which are available in the searchroom (4.1 and 4.2 respectively). These catalogues contain the references to the administrative records of nonconformists held at this office.
