An amber weather warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office from 5am to 9pm on Friday 18 February 2022.

Saturday 19 February 2022

A yellow weather warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office from 6am to 6pm on Saturday 19 February 2022.

Updates to council services - Friday 18 February 2022

Waste and recycling collections

Waste services will not be collecting waste or recycling on Friday 18 February.

Please take any waste and recycling set out for collection back onto your property and secure it.

Collection Crews will return to collect on Saturday 19 February. Please set waste and recycling out at 7am.  

This will include household, bulky and reuse collections, schools collection and trade waste collection.

Household waste and recycling centres and commercial waste and recycling centre (Lynbottom)

Lynbottom Household Waste Recycling Centre will not open today (Friday 18 February).

Subject to potential damage – the site is planned to reopen on Saturday 19 February.

Residents with bookings for Friday 18 February, may use their booking reference number to visit on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 February. Visits can be made at any time over the day, and to ease congestion the site will open between 9-10am and 6-7pm for only those who missed booking on Friday 18 February.


Island Roads anticipate Storm Eunice to cause disruption to the Island’s road network on Friday 18 February, with fallen trees and debris on the highway extremely likely. Updates about highway impacts are available on the Island Roads website.


Unfortunately, parts of the Crematorium grounds will have restricted access over the weekend (19-20 February) due to some fallen trees. We'll work to clear these as soon as possible.

Floating bridge

Updated: 6pm Friday 18 February.

The floating bridge has returned to service and is operating according to its scheduled hours.

Please note that strong winds and a high tide may cause further disruption to the service on Saturday 19 February.

Passengers are advised to check the floating bridge website or call the office on (01983) 293041 between 8.30am and 5pm on Saturday for further information.


Our 1Leisure sites are open as normal currently (Friday).


Our libraries are closed today (Friday).

The Register Office is closed from 1pm today (Friday). You can contact the team on (01983) 823233 for any queries.

Dinosaur Isle

Dinosaur Isle museum will be closed today (Friday 18 February). It is hoped that Dinosaur Isle will open again tomorrow (Saturday) - please check the Dinosaur Isle Facebook page for updates.
