A dedicated jobs page for adult social work recruitment opportunities has been launched by the Isle of Wight Council.

The aim is to reach out to social work professionals from around the UK who might be interested in joining the inspirational team on the Island.

Anyone interested in working for the council and would like to know more about current vacancies and how to apply, can now visit iow.gov.uk/jobvacancies/SocialWorkCareers

The page will be updated when new vacancies become available.

The site also features video messages to prospective candidates from the director and assistant director of adult social care and housing needs, who talk about this important area of work and the support offered in relocating to the Island.

Councillor Karl Love, Cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Nationally, there is a shortage of people working in adult social care.

"To attract the best candidates to work with us, we need to offer good information on the vacancies we have along with information about us as a local authority, the benefits of working with us and living on our wonderful Island. This is a truly special place to live and offers the benefits of coastal towns and communities where volunteering and community participation brings people together for the benefit of all.

“At the Isle of Wight Council, we have a dedicated, passionate and ambitious team of skilled professionals working closely together to provide an adult social care service to be proud of.

"We strive to be the best we can be for our community, with seek to find top social care professionals to lead the way.”

The launch coincided with the recent Social Work Week 2023 and World Social Work Day and celebrates the dedication of social workers.
