Islanders interested in making a real difference in their community are invited to attend the annual Care and Health Careers Festival, returning to Lord Louis Library in Newport.
Organised by the Isle of Wight Council, the event on September 17 brings together a wide range of employers from across the Island to showcase the many rewarding career opportunities available in the care and health sectors.
Visitors will have the chance to speak directly with representatives from organisations including the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Mountbatten Hospice, and various private and independent care providers.
Council teams from adult social care and children’s services will also be on hand to offer insight into their work and current vacancies.
New for this year, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Isle of Wight Youth Trust will be joining the line-up, offering information on careers, volunteering opportunities, and the benefits of working in emergency and youth support services.
Katy Harwood, recruitment team leader at the council, said: “We need more people to join the Island's care and health workforce, supporting residents when they need it most.
"This event gives people a chance to see past the stereotypes and perceptions of care and health work, and shines a spotlight on the reality of these immensely rewarding careers.
“Whether you're just starting out or looking for a change, this is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to meet with potential employers and discuss real care and health careers with those on the frontline.”
Support services including Isle of Wight College, Isle of Wight Council apprenticeships, and Adult Learning will be present to guide attendees on training and development options. The DWP JobCentre Plus team will also be available to provide tailored advice to job seekers.
The event runs from 10am until 2pm and attendees are encouraged to bring their CVs, with some employers offering interviews on the day for live vacancies.
