The Isle of Wight Council has teamed up with Solent Careers Hub to host a free careers, education and training event designed to inspire and inform young people, parents, and carers about the wide range of opportunities available for the future.

Featuring over 40 exhibitors under one roof, attendees can expect to:

  • Meet colleges, universities, and training providers
  • Connect with local and regional employers
  • Explore volunteering, personal development, supported pathways to work and guidance from support organisations
  • Gather resources to help plan the next steps in education, training, or work

Visit our webpage for more information about who will be there on the day.

This event is a chance for young people to discover real opportunities for their futures, access expert advice and guidance all in one place and build confidence in planning the next steps. It is also a great opportunity for parents and carers looking for clear guidance as well as teachers and advisers who support students with career decisions.

The event has also received sponsorships from GKN and Southern Universities Network which has helped with transport costs to enable schools to bring students to the event.

Julie Lambert, post-16 Manager at the Isle of Wight Council said: “this year’s careers event is focused on ensuring that every young person on the Isle of Wight has access to meaningful opportunities and guidance."

"Every young person deserves a positive start - one that empowers them to explore their potential, make informed choices, and step confidently into their future.”

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: Tuesday 14th October 2025

Time: 9am – 2pm (Secondary School bookings only), 3.15PM – 6pm (parents, carers and home educated young people)

Location: Medina Leisure Centre, Fairlee Road, Newport

There will also be an opportunity for parents and carers to attend short information talks which aim to support families in making informed decision on topics such as post-16 pathways and other supported pathways such as supported internships or vocational qualifications. These will take place at Medina Theatre at 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
