Last call for young artists in chairman’s Christmas card competition
Published: 1 December 2025
Island youngsters have just a few days left to put pen to paper — or brush to canvas — for the annual chairman’s Christmas card competition.
The popular festive contest, which celebrates creativity and imagination, is now in its final week.
Budding artists are being urged to get their entries in by Friday to be in with a chance of seeing their design become the official Isle of Wight Council Christmas e-card.
Councillor Ian Dore, council chair, said: “This is a wonderful tradition that showcases the artistic talent of our young residents. Festive, fun and full of Christmas cheer.
“We’ve already had a bumper crop of entries this year, which is fantastic to see.
"Every design reflects a unique perspective on what Christmas means. Whether it’s family warmth, sparkling lights, snowy scenes or the joy of togetherness. It's as inspiring as it is joyful.”
Entries can be hand-drawn or digital, and organisers say all submissions will be valued and appreciated.
The winning design will be chosen by the chairman and sent far and wide as the council’s festive greeting.
So, if you haven’t already, grab your pens, pencils, paints or digital tools and let your imagination lead the way.
Completed entries can be emailed to civic.affairs@iow.gov.uk
