Clay days

Update 30 October 2023: The excessive rain over the last week has resulted in flooding of parts of the garden at Newport Roman Villa. Unfortunately the Clay day at Newport Roman Villa on Friday 3 November will be now be cancelled. The Museum of Island History will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (10am – 1pm) with activities for families.

Half term family activities are on offer at to two Island museums this Autumn.

At Newport Roman Villa, Clay Days return, taking place 10.30am-2.30pm on Wednesday October 25, Friday October 27 and Friday November 3, and visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about mythical monsters and model their own monster to take home.

Entry to Newport Roman Villa including all activities will be just £1 per person on these special days and includes the chance to explore the historic remains including the museum and garden and there will be a monster hunt to guide families around the site. 

If the activity room is busy there is a kit to make mythical monsters at home.

The Museum of Island History will also have hands on action for families this half term including modelling and mascot activities for all ages (open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-1pm) and is £1 for adults and 50p for children.

Event at both locations are organised by Isle of Wight Council’s Heritage Service.
