Appeals timetable
Education admission appeals 2025/26 academic year
Below is a guide to the dates and deadlines for admission appeals for the 2025/26 academic year (however it is emphasised that the dates are indicative and may be subject to minor amendment).
Secondary schools
- Letters will be dispatched to parents
including their “offer” for which school their children will attend from
September 2025, on Monday 3 March 2025.
- The deadline
for parents to lodge an appeal against refusal of admission to a school will
be 20 school days after the issue of the “offer” letters. This
being Friday 28 March 2025.
- Any appeals lodged within this
timeframe must be heard within 40 school days from the deadline. Parents
must also be given a minimum of 10 school days’ notice of
their appeal hearing date. On this basis, it is planned for appeal hearings to
start commencing Tuesday 29 April 2025 to be concluded by Monday 16 June 2025.
- Any appeals lodged outside of this timeframe will be arranged within 30 school days.
Primary school admission appeals
- Letters will be dispatched to parents
including their “offer” for which school their children will attend from September 2024, on Wednesday 16 April 2025.
- The deadline for parents to lodge an
appeal against refusal of admission to a school will be 20 school
days after the issue of the “offer” letters. This being Tuesday 20 May 2025.
- Any appeals lodged within this
timeframe must be heard within 40 school days from the deadline. Parents
must also be given a minimum of 10 school days’ notice of
their appeal hearing date. On this basis, it is planned for appeal hearings to
start commencing Wednesday 11 June 2025 to be concluded by Monday 21 July 2025.
- Any appeals lodged outside of this timeframe will be arranged within 30 school days.
