Resident parking permits
Resident zone permits
If you live in a zone, you may buy up to two permits for your own vehicles. Only two permits can be bought for each postal address. Permits will be valid for a 12-month period from the date of issue. The costs are £72 for the first vehicle and £100 for the second vehicle.
You can park in the specific parking zone bays with this permit. These bays will be signposted with the name of the zone stated. You cannot use the permit outside the relevant parking zone.
Visitor permits
If you live in a zone, you can buy permits for visitors to park whilst coming to see you at your home:
- you can buy up to 20 permits per month
- each permit will cost £2
- residents and visitors must park according to the permit's terms
Resident pay and display permits
On-street
If you live in one of the following streets, you can buy up to two permits for your own vehicles. Only two permits can be bought for each postal address. Permits will be valid for a 12-month period from the date of issue. The costs are £72 for the first vehicle and £100 for the second vehicle.
You can park within the pay and display bays in your street with this permit. You cannot use the permit in any other street.
- High Street, Newport
- Holyrood Street, Newport
- Lugley Street, Newport
- Pyle Street, Newport
- Quay Street, Newport
- Orchard Street, Newport
- Esplanades
- Cowes Parade (and properties within a 100 metre radius of Cowes Parade)
Off-street (car parks)
If you live within 200 metres of a council car park, you may buy up to two permits for your own vehicles. Only two permits can be bought for each postal address. You can buy a six-month, or 12-month permit. The costs for a six-month permit at £119.40 for the first permit and £159 for the second permit. The costs for a 12-month permit are £238.80 for the first vehicle and £318 for the second vehicle.
You can park within the pay and display bays in the designated car park with this permit. You cannot use the permit anywhere else.

Change of vehicle registration
You can change your registration number for free in your MiPermit account. Or you can telephone MiPermit on 0345 5207007 and they will change it for free for you.
But, if you would like use to change the registration for you, there will be an administration charge of £15. Please fill out the form below.
