Theatre in Education
Theatre in Education is an engaging way to deliver road safety messaging within school environments. It blends a theatre style performance with workshop elements to engage the audience.
We commission The Riot Act to deliver a tour for year 7 pupils (Key Stage 3) called ‘What Went Down’. It's delivered to students at a critical age, after they transition to secondary school.
The theme of this powerful and engaging drama is peer pressure and distractions. It intends to encourage safe behaviour at the roadside, and improve pupil attitudes towards road safety.
The evaluation of the 2022 tour included a pupil questionnaire before and after the show. There was also a teacher survey conducted after each performance.
The pupil results showed an improvement in attitudes towards road safety. It also showed an improvement in willingness to engage in safer behaviours.
