Local List Requirements Consultation

Local List (Validation or 1APP) Requirements Consultation

The Isle of Wight Council, as Local Planning Authority (LPA), is required to review its list of local requirements for the validation of all planning related applications on a regular basis.

The consultation will be for 8 weeks, beginning on 10 December 2024 and ending on 4 February 2025.

Every few years, they check the rules for these applications. The last check was in 2019. Since then, there have been many changes in the laws.

The Council wants to make sure that all applications have the right information. This helps them make decisions quickly. They also want to make the rules easier to understand. This way, everyone knows what to include in their applications. This will help make the process faster and better for everyone, including applicants, agents, architects, the public, and local councils.

One big change is about Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). This means some projects need to show they will help nature. The new rules will explain what information is needed for BNG. This will help people know what to include before they send in their applications.

The Council also added new rules for other things that often delay applications. These include checks on farm land and plans for managing construction and the environment for big projects.

The new rules will start on 1 March 2025 depending on the feedback.
