Education centre and outreach

Are you interested in finding out what happens to your rubbish and how you can do more to recycle?

As part of the waste partnership, we run a programme of community activities.

These activities help you understand how you can reduce, reuse and recycle the waste you produce.

The programme includes a dedicated school's outreach service, which is run on our behalf by our waste service provider.

Primary and special needs schools can book a free waste workshop.

The practical workshops are tailored to school requirements and have creative curricular links to KS1 and KS2.

All resources and lesson plans are provided free and will highlight the need to:

  • reduce our waste and the environmental impact on the Isle of Wight
  • reuse at home and through partnerships set up by our waste provider, as well as local charity shops
  • recycle and understand what should go in which bin.

Interested schools can find out more and book an outreach visit by emailing waste.contract@iow.gov.uk.

Our waste provider can also carry out outreach visits to community groups.

Groups interested in receiving an education workshop can contact our waste provider to request a booking. Email waste.contract@iow.gov.uk
