Book a ceremony

You can book your marriage or civil partnership ceremony in three ways:

  • at a church or religious building
  • at a register office
  • at an approved venue.

Download our fees and charges (PDF, 93KB) for booking a ceremony.

To get married in a church or other religious building, you need to contact the person in charge. The government website provides further information on religious marriages.

To get married at the register office, book a ceremony with us.

To get married at an approved venue you need to contact the venue first and agree a provisional date. Once you have a date, you then need to book a ceremony with us.

Our registrars are available to conduct your ceremony at the register office or an approved venue, including outdoor ceremonies.

Email registrars@iow.gov.uk to book a ceremony with us.

For all marriage or civil partnerships, once a date has been agreed you are required to give notice.

Ceremonies with us

We offer ceremonies at our Seaclose offices.

The St Catherine's ceremony room is available to book on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week. This room has space for the couple plus 12 other people (including guests, photographer, etc.).

We also offer ceremonies at the register office on Wednesdays at 9.30am and 10am. These ceremonies are for the couple plus their two witnesses. No other guests are permitted to attend.

If you cancel:

  • more than eight weeks before the ceremony date, you will receive a full refund excluding non-refundable deposit and notice fees.
