Your recycling service

Recycling is collected on alternate weeks to your general waste collection, and food waste from your food caddy is collected every week. Place your recycling and food waste out at your collection point by 7am on the day of collection.

Find out if it is your recycling week or general waste week. Enter your postcode, select your address and click 'view the calendar'. You can also print it out.

• Rinse out your mixed recyclables (glass, metal, and plastic) and put them clean, dry, and loose in your green bin, green reusable sack or mixed recycling communal bin.
• Put your paper/card recycling separately in your paper/card insert or blue reusable sack. Place the insert in your recycling bin and close the lid.
• If you have a green recycling reusable sack, put your recyclables in clear or white bin liners and put inside your reusable sack.
• Put your paper and card separately inside your small blue reusable sack. The blue reusable sack can be placed in your recycling green reusable sack or alongside it.

We collect extra recycling if your bin or reusable sack is full. Put extra mixed recycling in clear or white bags next to your recycling bin/reusable sack and extra paper/card in a clear or white bag separate to the rest of your extra recycling.

If you live in a block of flats, you can put your recyclables in your communal recycling bin.

You can have more than one recycling bin or reusable sack. This is because we want to help you recycle as many items as possible. If you need a new or extra recycling bin or reusable sack, you can order one online.

Sometimes, the collection crew do miss bins by accident. You can report a missed collection online or you can call us on 01983 823777.

On collection day, your recycling bin or reusable sack should be out before 7am or after 7pm the night before your collection day. They must be placed at the kerbside where it meets the road to allow members of the public space to use the pavement.

You must bring your emptied bin or reusable sack back onto your property once it has been emptied. This must be done by no later than 7pm the following day, i.e. if your waste or recycling is collected on Tuesday, your reusable sacks or bins must be back on your property by Wednesday evening.

Do not leave wheeled bins or reusable sacks on the road or pavement between these times, as this could create a hazard to people using the pavement.
