Apply for or renew a Blue Badge
The blue badge scheme helps disabled people with severe mobility problems to access goods and services by allowing them to park close to their destination.
To apply for a blue badge or renew an existing one you will need to complete a blue badge application on the government website. Their website will tell you what you will need to apply and who can apply.
If you cannot access the internet you can use one of our help centres or a library. You can also ask a family member, support worker or carer to apply on your behalf.
Cost of a Blue Badge
The cost of a blue badge is £10. This applies to new badges and renewals.
Once your application has been submitted, if you are eligible, we will contact you to ask for payment.
Please be aware of scams where you might be charged more than £10 for an application. These websites are not associated with the blue badge service. The application form supplied by these websites are not accepted by us.
How long does the badge last?
Your badge will be valid for three years from the date of issue. They are not automatically renewed. You will need to reapply before your badge expires. You can reapply if your badge is due to expire in 12 weeks or less.
Unsuccessful applications
If your application was unsuccessful you may reapply in six months. If your condition gets worse in that time you can apply sooner.
If you disagree with the decision you can ask us to reconsider within one month of receiving your letter. You must email blue.badge@iow.gov.uk with your reasons for appeal, providing further medical evidence.
