Schools consultations
School Place Planning Public Drop in Sessions
We are holding a series of drop-in sessions which will focus on improving education provision and how school place planning is undertaken. The sessions will look at the high numbers of surplus places that currently exist across the primary sector and the further increase that is forecast for future years. Council officers will be available to discuss the significant impacts that not managing the surplus has on the schools themselves and children’s education.
The meetings will be open to discussion, ideas, and suggestions. All who are interested in education on the Island are welcome and encouraged to attend and share their views. You can book your place on a session using the links below. Booking is only to guarantee a place. If you arrive on the day, you will be admitted if space constraints allow.

Consultation on the expansion of a resourced provision at Greenmount Primary School
We wish to consult on the proposed expansion of a resourced provision at Greenmount Primary School. The provision currently accommodates 6 children but we are proposing to expand this to 12 places. As part of this consultation period we held a public meeting which allowed thoughts and comments to be shared directly with council officers. It was held on:
- 19 March 2024 between 2.30pm and 5.00pm, at Greenmount Primary School, Ryde IOW
Consultation on the expansion of St Georges School through the provision of a satellite site
We wish to consult on the proposed expansion of St Georges School, Newport, IOW through the provision of a satellite site. The proposal includes expanding the agreed place number from 188 to 208 from 1 September 2024, with of these 20 places provided at the former Studio School site, East Cowes.
